Funeste journée du 26 Mai 2023. La nouvelle est tombée tôt ce matin. Le Togo vient de perdre son président de la Cour constitutionnelle. Aboudou Assouma n’est plus. Frappé par une longue maladie ces dernières années, l’homme qui dirigeait la Cour constitutionnelle depuis 2007 a finalement passé l’arme à gauche à l’âge de 78 ans.
Né en Né en 1945, Aboudou Assouma a grandi à Kara où il fit ses études primaires et secondaires avant de poursuivre ses études supérieures en France. Il en sortira en 1975, nanti d’une Licence en droit avant de rejoindre pour 2 ans, les rangs de l’École supérieure de la magistrature de Paris.
Rentré au bercail sous le règne du feu président Gnassingbé Eyadema, l’homme a toujours été dans les arcanes du pouvoir jusqu’à son rappel à Dieu.
Un parcours riche
De 1977 à 1981, il a été juge d’instruction avant de devenir substitut du Procureur de la République de 1981 à 1988. Il a été Procureur de la République de 1988 à 1991.
Du 2 janvier au 17 juin 1992, il rejoint le gouvernement et a occupé les fonctions de ministre délégué auprès du Premier Ministre chargé des Forces armées togolaises (FAT) puis Procureur général près la Cour d’appel de Lomé le 23 mars 1993.
Il remplace Atsu Améga à la tete de la Cour constitutionnelle en 2007. Poste qu’il occupera jusqu’à son trépas. Après un parcours aussi riche, c’est donc une grosse perte pour le pays. Au delà, plusieurs lui reprochaient une certaine proximité avec le pouvoir de Lomé.
